Arrow may just be saved from its low ratings after all. But in all seriousness, Entertainment Weekly just announced that Katie Cassidy’s coming back! Specifically, she’ll be back for the last two episodes of the season. Not only that, but she’s going to be a series regular for Arrow‘s sixth season. With this news, there’s a multitude of potential for the writers to redeem themselves after (well-deserved, in my opinion) backlash they received after killing Cassidy’s original character.
Cassidy’s Last Appearance

The last time we saw Black Siren, Laurel Lance’s Earth-2 doppelganger, was earlier this season. In that episode, titled “Who Are You?”, sadly ended with her getting locked up in an A.R.G.U.S facility. And there wasn’t much hope that she’d appear on the show again. But at the end of that episode, they then introduced us to the new Black Canary, Dinah Drake (played by Juliana Harkavy). But now that we know Cassidy’s coming back, hopefully it means the writers will give Black Siren a great redemption arc.
Catching Up on Arrow

To be completely honest, I haven’t actually watched the show much since they killed off the original Laurel Lance. Quite frankly, I found the writer’s decision to kill her to be appalling and disrespectful. Especially to someone who fell in love with the character. Not only that, but they replaced her with Dinah Drake. And to me, it’s a little too big of a stretch for someone to essentially have too much in common with the OG Laurel Lance. But now that Katie Cassidy’s returning, I’m hopeful that the writers will finally give both the actress and character the story she deserves.
