I’ve never done this on my personal blog before but I’ve always been a huge music lover. And I’ve, admittingly, had this song on repeat this week (so far) as well as all of last week. I grew up being a huge fan of Miley Cyrus because I grew up during the OG Disney Channel days and watched every new episode of Hannah Montana. Stevie Nicks released “Edge of Seventeen” way before my time, but I was very aware of the song thanks to another childhood favorite, School of Rock.
For people who don’t already know, School of Rock starred Jack Black as a substitute teacher who turns his class into a rock band. In the movie, Jack Black’s character, Dewey, takes the school’s principal, Mrs. Mullins, for a beer and wants to take his class on a field trip. Specifically, a concert. And Mrs. Mullins is a big Stevie Nicks song so Dewey plays the song to get her in a better mood. In other words, that was my first introduction to the legendary, Stevie Nicks. Unorthodox, I know, but it lives as a clear memory in my brain.
Anyway, this all leads me to this week’s song of the week: “Edge of Midnight”. It’s the perfect combination of both artists and a real banger, in my book. So, if you haven’t already, give the song a listen and it’ll hopefully brighten your week.
